Shamilia is the director of education at Brooklyn Museum, where she leads a brilliant team of artists and educators curating learning spaces that center participants’ experiences, cultivate community, and encourage freedom, creativity and critical dialogue. Her arts education practice spans more than a decade with roots in applied theatre, liberatory education, and healing justice. Tocruray lives with her husband and two children in the Little Caribbean section of Flatbush, Brooklyn.
