Lightning Talk | Keeping the Bugs at Bay
Adam Osgood is the Collections Technician and IPM Coordinator at Historic New England where he supports the collection services team in collection care, photography and oversight of the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program. He operates Historic New England’s Controlled Atmosphere Treatment (CAT) facility where he has remediated thousands of objects for insect pests. Adam earned a BFA in sculpture at Pratt Institute and has worked as curatorial assistant in the Asian Art Department at The Harvard Art Museums and as Collection Care Specialist at The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Adam is co-chair of the Museum Pests Working Group for the Museumpests.net website which is considered an international authority on IPM for collections-holding and cultural heritage institutions. Adam has lectured and presented on IPM on the regional, national and international stage. He has been published in the proceedings of the international IPM conference held in Stockholm Sweden 2019 and in the American Institute of Conservation newsletter representing Historic New England as a leader in the IPM field.
