
Vice President and Chief Policy Director | Historic New England
Carissa Demore joined Historic New England in 2013 and became Vice President and Chief Policy Director in 2025. She oversees strategic initiatives across the region, including the Historic New England Summit, historic preservation advocacy, preservation easement program and related real estate engagement, and the development of the Historic New England Center for Preservation and Collections in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She has a B.S. in Landscape Architecture from Colorado State University and a Master’s degree in Historic Preservation from the University of Maryland. She previously worked for the City of Annapolis, Maryland, and the L’Enfant Trust in Washington, D.C., and serves on the boards of the Legacy Fund for Boston and the New England chapter of docomomo-US.
