Christina Smith, a Bridgeport native, returned to her hometown after living in London, New York, and San Francisco, driven by a passion for community development. With a B.A. in Economics from Princeton and years in the financial industry, she pursued graduate studies specifically to help revitalize Bridgeport. Christina holds an M.A. in Historical and Sustainable Architecture from NYU, focusing on adaptive reuse, and an M.Sc. in Urban Regeneration from University College London, specializing in housing development. As part of her studies, she also spent some time at Prince Charles’ Foundation for the Built Environment (later called the Prince’s Foundation for Building Community) where she was exposed to the field of brownfield redevelopment and sustainable planning. As President + CEO of Groundwork Bridgeport, Christina leads initiatives to improve Bridgeport’s physical environment. Since returning to Bridgeport, she has also served a term on Bridgeport’s City Council and several boards. Christina is committed to reconnecting Groundwork Bridgeport with the broader community and serving as a resource for sustainable, impactful development in the city.
