Director of Community Partnerships | Inclusive Arts Vermont
Panelist | Inclusive Design: Disability, Culture, and Preservation
Heidi Swevens, MSW, is a queer disabled artist and advocate with a passion for inclusion. They have been on the management team at Inclusive Arts Vermont (IAV) for over ten years. They were introduced to IAV when one of their photographs was accepted into the Engage exhibition in 2012. Engage centered disabled artists and provided accessibility features as part of the show. It was transformative that access was part of the show rather than an afterthought. This experience redirected Heidi’s professional efforts. Today, they have the privilege of working with artists, venues, and community partners to center and celebrate disabled artists. Additionally, they are an integral part of IAV’s professional development team which provides training and consultation. Learn more about IAV’s training offerings at: www.inclusiveartsvermont.org
