
Bass-baritone
Originally from Leesburg, FL, bass-baritone Justice Yates is currently pursuing his Masters of Musical Arts in voice at the Yale School of Music, studying under Gerald Martin Moore. With Yale Opera, he has performed the roles of Tobias Mill in La Cambiale di Matrimonio, Ibn-Hakia in Iolanta, Simone in Gianni Schicchi, and Father Trulove in The Rake’s Progress. He will sing the role of Schaunard in Yale Opera’s production La bohème in the Shubert Theatre in February 2026.
In the summers of 2024 and 2025, Justice was a young artist with the Merola Opera Program in San Francisco. With Merola, he sang the role of Masetto in Don Giovanni, and covered Leporello in Don Giovanni and Le Gouveneur in Le Comte Ory. Previously, he has been a young artist with Houston Grand Opera’s Young Artist Vocal Academy and SongFest in Nashville. This year Justice won first place in the George Shirley Competition, preprofessional division. He earned his undergraduate degree in Music Performance at Stetson University in 2023, and received his M.M. from the Yale School of Music in 2025, where he anticipates completing his M.M.A. in May 2026.
