Dr. Luis Aguirre-Torres is the Director of Sustainability for the City of Ithaca, where he leads the city’s decarbonization and climate justice strategies. He is also co-chair of the New York State Climate Impact Assessment, Society and Economy TWG. He has been recognized twice by the White House as Champion of Change and Leader in Sustainable Innovation. He holds a degree in computer science from the National University of Mexico, a master’s and a doctorate in electrical and electronic engineering from University College London. He also holds certificates in Financing and Deploying Clean Energy, from Yale University, and in Systems Thinking from Cornell University.
