Susan D. Whiting serves as a board director, advisor, and trustee to publicly traded companies, private independent ventures, and nonprofit organizations. Her abiding interests in education, conservation, and women’s history and leadership have shaped her board service, including as Board Chair of The National Women’s History Museum in Washington, DC and as a board trustee for the Chicago Academy of Sciences’ Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, the Trust for Public Land, and Denison University. In the past, Susan has also served on boards including The YMCA of Greater New York, the corporate fund board of The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and more.
Susan’s board service has been informed by her work in leadership positions. She led a 35-year career at Nielsen, where she is best known for building Nielsen’s most visible franchise in television measurement during the cable, telecommunications, and media industries’ digital transition. She retired as Vice Chair in 2014. Susan currently serves on the board of Kemper Corporation (KMPR), Hyde Park Angel Investments, and Box Options Exchange, LLC.
Susan is a cousin of Susan B. Anthony and is dedicated to the advancement of women and gender equality. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Denison University.
