Panelist | Inclusive Education: in the Classroom and Beyond
Tere Ramos is an education, disability, and civil rights attorney and the executive director of Partners for Youth with Disabilities (PYD), a Boston-based national nonprofit building the skills and abilities of young people with disabilities and increasing the inclusivity of workplaces. Prior to PYD she was an attorney at Ramos Law LLC, in Wellesley, Massachusetts, focusing her work on representing children with disabilities in education and civil rights. Prior to Ramos Law, Ramos was the language access attorney at the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute, where she focused her work in ensuring access for limited English proficient (LEP) communities in Massachusetts. At MLRI, Tere worked on litigation seeking that the Massachusetts Department of Education and the Holyoke Public Schools restructure how language access services are provided to all non-English speaking families. The impact of this advocacy has helped transform how language access in the education process is provided across the state. Prior to joining MLRI, she was an attorney and Equal Justice Works fellow at the Disability Law Center, focusing on special education issues related to the Hispanic community across Massachusetts. Ramos has presented and provided expertise on ELL students, language access, and education nationally. She received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College, a master’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and her law degree from Boston College Law School.
