Whitney Reynolds Waxman is co-founder/co-owner and President of American Roots in Westbrook, Maine. Launched in 2015 by Waxman and her husband, Ben, American Roots is a family run textile business, creating American-made, union made apparel. American Roots is known for their commitment to high quality American-made products and their mission to model good employment practices. The company has experienced significant growth in the past 9 years, specializing in business to business sales and more recently, expanding into direct to consumer sales as well as launching an apparel line for professional sports fans.
Whitney was born and raised in Rochester, NY, spent her high school years in Australia, then returned to the United States for college. After spending time in the Pacific Northwest studying at the University of Oregon, she moved to New York City, earning a degree in anthropology from Fordham University. Whitney spent nearly 20 years in the hospitality industry and event management and planning before deciding to take on the textile industry in 2015. She currently oversees all manufacturing operations at American Roots. She serves as a member of the board of directors for the Portland Recovery Community Center. Whitney lives in Westbrook, Maine with her husband and three sons. She is an avid skier and loves to fly fish.
